Flash Game Monetization Case Study: Clickometer
By admin • Aug 20th, 2008 • Category: Flash Developers GuideHow many times you come across a game whose sole aim is to click at a particular place again and again. I’m sure a lot of times you’ve seen such crappy games. Unfortunately on May 23rd, 2008 I created one such game and called it Click-O-Meter. I spent a total of 1 hour developing it and 2 hours distributing and submitting it to various sites. Here’s the game:-
Can you guess how much I would have made for this? As of now about $52.82. Almost as much as I paid for hosting of this site for an year. How?
Here’s the deal, I hardly expected much from the game, but I did two things that all developers must do
1. Submit it to FGL..(just in case)
2. Submit it to Mindjolt (again just in case)
For me both of these things worked. I was provided a $25 deal for API integration at FGL. I felt that would be almost it, seeing my mochi revenues were below 5.00$ after 2 months. But on 20th July I received a mail from Mindjolt saying they were gonna feature my game on facebook. What that means? It meant about 50k views for me all of a sudden and a windfall of $25+ thanks to Mochiads.
So here I stand with about 4 hours work at max and $54 richer. ( I live in a place where an engineer on average gets about $25 per hour) So thats nice.
